Changes in sales of menthol cigarettes and unflavored cigarettes per 1000 persons in Massachusetts before and after the statewide menthol cigarette sales restrictions

After Massachusetts restricted sales of menthol cigarettes, statewide menthol cigarette sales decreased while unflavored cigarette sales increased by a relatively smaller proportion.

Calculations were based in part on data reported by Nielsen through its Scantrack Service for the cigarette category for the 4-week period ending July 2021 for the Stateline market and convenience and all other retail channels.
