Individuals who never smoked have much higher net worth than those who smoked.

Among individuals who smoked, those who smoked with light intensity were financially better off than those who smoked heavily. On average, the net worth of people who never smoked was roughly 50% higher than those who smoked with light intensity and more than double the level of those who smoked heavily. Each additional year of smoking caused the net worth to fall by about 4%.
