Tobacco use perpetuates limited income and resources: Where do we break the vicious cycle?
The vicious cycle of tobacco use and low socioeconomic status is sustained by a complex interplay of health, economic, and social factors.
Breaking this cycle requires targeted interventions at the foundational level—improving health literacy, reducing exposure to tobacco marketing, increasing price and reducing appeal of tobacco products, expanding access to cessation services, and addressing the broader determinants of poverty. By disrupting the initial drivers, we can prevent the cascading effects of tobacco-related illness, financial strain, and intergenerational disadvantage.
