Adults who currently smoke or formerly smoked cigarettes who answered yes to having used evidence-based medications (nicotine patch, gum, lozenge, nasal spray, inhaler, Chantix/varenicline, Zyban/bupropion/Wellbutrin) and/or counseling (telephone help line or quit line; one-on-one in-person counseling by a health professional; stop-smoking clinic; internet or web-based program or tool including smartphone apps and text messaging programs) during their last past-year quit attempt were considered as having used medications and/or counseling.
